Author: Scarlett Pham Justin Bieber is prepared to sell the publishing and recorded music catalog to the Blackstone-backed Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million. It has been rumored for weeks, first reported by Hits and the Wall Street Journal. If the deal successfully seals, this will be the biggest deal of Hipgnosis Songs Capital. Earlier this year, the company bought Justin Timberlake's catalog for more than $100 million. Justin Bieber rose to fame in the late 2000's, notably with his global hit "Baby." To date, he has released six quality studio albums, adding more hits to his career such as "Sorry," "Love Yourself," "Peaches," "Intentions" and "Yummy." His impressive collaborations such as "I'm the One" with DJ Khaled, "STAY" with The Kid LAROI, and can't not to mention the biggest song of 2017 "Despacito" with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. At the age 28, Bieber would become one of the youngest artists to sell his music rights. Investing in older catalogs is considered a safer and wiser move for companies because the popularity of these catalogs has been proven. Let's hope Bieber the best and stay tuned for more news.

Author: Scarlett Pham Kate Odulukwe is a Nigerian-American artist with a distinct passion for promoting aspects of both her Nigerian and American identity. The singer-songwriter combines dreamy elements of Afrobeat, R&B, and Pop music to build a bridge, connecting listeners to an introspective unknown. Through additional planted seeds from her Ivy League education at the University of Pennsylvania, Kate has consistently made time to learn and grow through sound, while maintaining her roots in Anambra State, Nigeria, and the Bronx, NY. At the same time, Kate Odulukwe is an esteemed actress who was accepted to the prestigious SpringboardNYC program by the American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony® Awards. After her first EP was called "transcendent" by PopDust Magazine, and she was given a stamp of approval by Sway Calloway, it's clear that not even the sky's the limit for Kate. Through her music and presence, Kate has proven that incorporating multiple aspects of one's identify is indeed powerful and a quality that everyone should embrace. Grateful to chat with Kate, Clonefluence took the opportunity to ask her about this new project and her future plans. What is the meaning behind the song? "Let's Get Lost (Na Ala Eze), includes both English and Igbo lyrics. Specifically, the song explores how powerful intimacy can be, and how the feelings that come with that kind of connection can feel over-worldly. In the context of the song, I'm using the phrase "Na Ala Eze" to day let's go to another place--a better, almost heavenly place." What does this project say about you? "I feel like this song really reflects who I am as an artist. I've always wanted my music to evoke a feeling of escapism. Even if not all my songs explicitly include lyrics about going to another place, I want my listeners to feel their emotions personified. Ultimately, I feel like what this song says about me is that I'm someone that gets carried away with music, and I want my listeners to get carried away too." What are your next plans? "Next, I'm especially going to focus on writing and producing more music that combines and reflects both my Nigerian and American identify. I feel that I've started this journey already, but I want to dive deeper into this space. Moreover, I want to refine my sound and strengthen my presence as an artist. I think the best way to do that is just to hit the ground running, and work more and more on the craft. I'm looking forward to performing more and connecting with my listeners on a deeper level by being on stage. I'm so excited to go forward--onward and upward." What does your project aim to say? "My project aims to say that intimacy, as simple as it can be at times, can actually feel otherworldly if we embrace it as such."
