On the day dedicated to smoking weed, 4/20, Wiz Khalifa dropped his promised stoner mixtape, “Fly Times, Vol. 1: The Good Fly Young.” He released the 14 song tracklist the day before, and first told the news of this project on the ninth anniversary of "Kush and Orange Juice". This mixtape has the laid back, roll a blunt, and chill with friend’s type of vibe to it and features many artists such as Ty Dolla $ign, THEMXXNLIGHT, Problem, Chevy Woods, Young Deji, Sosamann, and Curren$y. The beats are also produced by well known hitmakers such as DJ Fresh, TM88, Harry Fraud, and Statik Selektah.
Although this was made for his fellow tokers and marijuana enthusiasts, it is not only for them. Every track on this tape could very well be a hit song on either coast. Khalifa and his producers put the mixtape together to where each song seems to flow into each other. “I’m back and rolling joints bigger than ever,” the famed smoker says in his intro track, "Real As You Think". Khalifa has always been open about his smoking, especially while making music. "Smoking just helps to free my mind, slow my thoughts down and think about everything not only in a more poetic way but in a more creative way in general."
Earlier this week, Wiz premiered his new Apple documentary series “Wiz Khalifa: Behind the Cam.” During this series, he gives fans a close look at his life, with appearances from his son, Sebastian, his mother, and his Taylor gang family.
