DJ Mustard’s third studio album, “Perfect Ten,” is finally here, and it features some of the biggest rap stars out right now.
Mustard’s first release of this album was the song “Pure Water” featuring Migos that dropped earlier this year. His next release was “100 Bands” that featured Quavo, YG, and Meek Mill. His third and final release before the album was “On God” that featured YG, Tyga, A$AP Ferg, and A$AP Rocky. But as expected, he brought along even more talent such as 1TakeJay, Nav, Playboi Carti, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Future, Young Thug, Gunna, Ella Mai, Ty Dolla Sign, and the late Nipsey Hussle. During a recent interview on “The Angie Martinez Show” to talk about his album, Mustard revealed that although he had a star-studded lineup, he had two artists he could not get - Drake and Lil Baby.
Mustard recently stated on Instagram that he plans on making "them tuck they whole summer in." In the last song on the album, “Perfect Ten” featuring Nipsey Hussle, he raps about the code of ethics by which he lived by, over a downtempo type beat - which is quite unusual Nipsey’s rap style. Rather than having a chorus, the song has voice clips of Nip explaining his world view, what the Marathon is and means, and violence in the rap game. He even called his close friend and collaborator YG - a “genius.” This song is a great reminder of what such an exceptional mind we lost in hip-hop.
With the album only being ten tracks, it’s quick, and concentrated listen brings out the most in every artist and confirms why DJ Mustard is one of the top producers in the game.
