"I was born on the north side of Chicago and lived there until my grandma moved me out to the suburbs. My parents weren’t ever really in a position to take care of me so I moved around a lot as a child and my mom finally decided it would be best to allow me to live with my grandma. It was weird being in a place where people seemed to have more ideal situations than my own but I was younger , I didn’t understand the circumstances as much as I do now. My dad was big into Rock and was in a band and even produced mixtapes for local artists in Chicago, my mom was the same she loved Music, artists like Prince and Aaliyah, so even though I’ve never been close to them I know they’re a big part of the reason I fuck with different types of music so much. I really got into music because it was one thing I excelled at, I used to freestyle for people in class and at school events and shit, so it was just a matter of time honestly. I was just making shitty one-take songs on SoundCloud using a auto tune app and YouTube beats, when I started to see the positive feedback coming in I decided to really start doin this shit and I been growing ever since. I think seeing people fuck with me and my interpretation of the world is a big inspiration to me." For many, music is a driving force, something that has deep roots and grows into us over the years. Yung Jako is no exception.

Jako describes his music as "
a reflection of all my goals and my everyday thoughts and how I look at things. I feel like when I make a song I’m just speaking my future into existence. My music is raw, unfiltered, I like to just make whatever is in my head I don’t really stop myself from saying what I want, I feel like people fuck with that cus I’m just saying what’s on my mind and it’s not too hard to understand where I’m coming from.
the biggest thing that I think sets me apart is my ability to come up with different sounds. I really want my shit to sound like the future , like some new age stuff.I like to turn simple ideas into songs and just create a mood. I feel like everyone else is trying to fit in and I’m just doing things the way I know how to, I don’t even write, so everything I drop is just me in the moment I feel like that gives songs more meaning."

It's essential to have a plan for the future. It's a means of inspiration and propels the artist forward. Yung Jako says "I see myself still making music of course, but on another level. I want my name to be something people bring up in conversation   and I want other artists to see me as their equal and if not their equal, their rival. I never expected to see the growth I’ve seen in myself in such a short time. Hopefully in 5 years my music will be perfected, I want to have created a whole new sound by then. Something new for people to listen to. As of right now I’m still learning, I started with no musical background and I’m still experimenting with new flows and ideas and shit like that. I think the song I just dropped, ‘PAID’, is a step in the right direction. I’m excited to see where I go and how fast I get there."

"I want my music to provoke a mood, I want it to give people a feeling that they can relate to on some level, I exaggerate a lot but it’s all in an effort to get the listener to feel something. I want people to be able to see my point of view and how I view the world. I want to be somebody people want to hear and someone they look up to in music, I’m tryna make an example cus where I’m from doin shit like this and makin it is unheard of but I feel like imma get what I want one way or another, it’s just a matter of time."
