We had a chance to really interact with Aye Drop and asked how it was to grow up being Austin Higgins. Specifically asking questions like what brought him to where he is today within music and even outside of it to shape the person that he is today. He began to explain where he first discovered his passion for music, his overall message to everyone who listens and supports, how long his music career has been going on for, and bright plans for the future.

Aye Drop stated the following:
My names Austin but, I go by Aye Drop or just Drop.

I was born December 9th 1997. Throughout my life, I’ve been through a good bit. I’ve been homeless countless times. I’ve lost all hope before, but I’ve always kept pushing. I actually had to drop out of the 8th grade because my mother fell sick, and she had no one to take care of her. Of course, that’s a big decision to make so young, but it was something that I had to do. Many people have scolded me for this, but nobody has or ever will be in my specific situation. I’m very close to my mother, I’m a child of 6 but, was the only one who was allowed to live with her. We’ve always been side by side through every horrible thing that happened. She’s the strongest person, my best-friend and I look up to her immensely. She’s also always fully supported any dream that I had and never shut my imagination out. I’m so thankful.

Since the age of 4, I’ve been doing something with music. I taught myself my first song on the drums back then. I only had interest in rock, Blink-182, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, all the good stuff. I honestly can play just about any song by a ton of bands. It wasn’t until I was 18 years old though, when i decided to take a shot at rapping. My beginning was very lackluster, not thinking that would actually become such a huge part of my life. I remember making my first song “Dad Hat” like it was yesterday. Me and my mom moved in with my aunt, and I recorded it on Audacity with a Blue Snowball. God that song was atrocious, but I learned from it, taught myself how to mix and master. It’s actually funny to think I used to be like that, but we all start somewhere. My family were my first supporters, no matter how bad something sounded, they’ve always loved it. All of my old songs are now private just because the quality was definitely not there. The first time I actually hit a professional studio was with my guy Tookie, at Dolo’s studio. See, Tookie listened to my old music, and for some reason he decided I was good enough for a feature. We went in the studio, and I was actually very nervous, I had no idea what to do, how to sound, I didn’t even do my own ad-libs. The song was great though, and I slowly started to develop my sound and confidence. For a about a year, I continued to drop singles, mixed and mastered by me. I always wanted to put the time and effort into making a full 6-8 song EP, but never found the motivation or concentration to do so. Then, out of no where, I had this insane writing spree. I was working on like, 20-30 songs at a time and I finally ended up choosing 6, very good songs to put on the EP. “Coming For It All” was my first project, and it came out sounding so amazing. Everyone I’ve shown has loved it, and it’s pushed me to take this very seriously. The biggest track on the EP, “Slime” features one of my closest friends, Deegrove, and I can confidently say that track is a certified BANGER. Now again, I lost motivation after because I thought that was enough for now. I was sadly mistaken, and started looking towards performing. I performed my first show at “The Showcase Tour” in New Orleans. Of course, being my first show, I was insanely nervous and didn’t perform to full potential. But everyone there told me they were not expecting what I had at all. That’s when I realized I needed to perform a lot more. My second show I did, was an open mic in my hometown, at a club called “The Brickhouse”. When I tell you everyone in that club was having their mind blown, I’m being serious. It was honestly one of the happiest moments in my entire life. I remember driving home that night yelling in the car for 45 minutes out of pure enjoyment. I was so proud of myself because it’s hard to perform with the anxiety I get honestly, but so far it’s been so worth it. I’ve met so many people through just making music. After that show, I met a guy named Sneaux. See, Sneaux is one of the coolest people I know, and crazy enough as it sounds our families grew up together. We linked up and recorded our first collab, “FAB” and dropped it the next day. It was definitely the beginning to a very long friendship. I have like another 25 unfinished songs at the moment, but one of my favorite finishes products is my track “Crimson Letter”. It’s a remix I guess you could say, of Drake’s “Pound Cake”, it took me like a week to write the whole thing, but it’s so sick. I definitely want this to be my career, for one simple fact. Since I was young, going through my struggles, I want to help people escape from their troubles. There’s so many things people go through on a daily basis that can put them through a ton of stress, and I want to touch hearts of plenty. No one deserves to go through what I went through, or anything at all for that matter. I know that true peace is fairly unlikely, but I like a tough challenge. My main goal is to make sure that my mom lives the happiest, stress-free life, because she’s kept a roof over my head for 20 years now and sacrificed anything to make sure that I was happy. Looking back at a lot, I’m glad that I never gave up. I would never be where I’m at now.

Thank you, to everyone who’s always supported me, without you, I would be nothing. I’ll never give up, and neither should you.
