"Ever since I was a kid I was tapping drum patterns on whatever surface with my fingers. it would annoy the hell out of people, but in my head I could just hear these CRAZY songs playing and that was just the closest I could get to bringing it to real life. I always had a knack for rhyming words, when the teachers made us write poems every 5,000 years in school, that would be the only time I actually cared about the assignment. I kept writing and writing, then in 10th grade I couldn’t tolerate the mundane school life anymore. All I would watch all day was the vlogs that Curren$y used to do heavy at that time and just envision myself being on the road like that. I said fuck the normal life, and I started recording raps over old ass beats and I quickly grew tired of stealing beats and begging for beats from niggas who couldn’t really give me what I was looking for so I copped Ableton and that was the beginning of me building a studio." Jackson MS's Gios4ma is an original talent with a quality and sound that stands out above the rest. With original ideas and original content, it's hard to miss his obvious talent.

He describes his music as "some shit you ain’t never heard before. I’m tryna push the boundaries of hip hop sonically with every new release. Lotta niggas worried about tryna figure out what’s hot right now. I’m already on what’s hot tomorrow. Niggas just now catching up to my first album. If I had to throw genre labels on it then it would be somewhere between lofi hip hop and techno, but even then, it’s way outside of the status quo."

When asked what his music's purpose is he says it's "to show niggas you can keep it g and still get paid. It’s a lot of corny niggas running around doing corny shit every other day. Niggas out here doing ANYTHING for attention. Starting fake rap beefs, making fake ass “controversial” statements, going to fake jail and so on. I don’t mind because that shit is none of my concern. I get it. For some niggas, bullshit IS their art; the music is just a vessel. But keep that shit far from me because I’ll fuck around and slap the shit out of one of these niggas and I swear on my life I’m not a violent person at all. I’m an approachable dude. But approach me with integrity. That’s what I’m promoting: integrity. You don’t have to do all this shucking and jiving if the music is really hot, let the music speak for itself."

What are some contributing inspirations? Could be the place you’re from, the music you like or the people around you and what/who are they?

"Real niggas to put it shortly. Amongst all the bullshit (not just right now but back in the previous eras as well) there was always artists who just keep it 1000. They don’t need all these shenanigans because they speak from the soul. Those artists have kept me on this earth this long. There’s artists I can count on to speak something that any real human being can feel in their heart. Their music can be old or it could’ve come out yesterday, but it’s gonna last forever because it comes from the soul. Real niggas never die, and I strive to be one of those artists for the next generation."

Gios has put out an impressive amount of projects on bandcamp. We asked him if he thinks its better to release more or less music and how it helps you.
"I think it just depends on your personality really. I’m always putting out new works because I’m always making it. It keeps me alive you know? Like my synths and samplers are always calling me and I’m always coming up with this new idea. For some people though, I’ve realized it don’t work like that. Some people come up with the next thing until they finish the first one. I don’t really work like that, it’s real nonlinear for me so I’m generally working on 3 projects at a time. I feel like people see it as me having put out a lot of projects, but then to me, I’m stressing because I haven’t even put out everything I have ready to go.

With 2019 approaching what are some of your goals?

I wanna get on the road more. I’ve done a LOT more shows this year, but I wanna move it to at least like a weekly basis if possible. Other than that, I got three projects on the way and some collab projects in transition.
