Some unfortunate news again hits the hip-hop community as we learn that DMV rapper, Tre’ Da Kidd, passed away following a shooting and car crash on June 7. Police responded to a call around 9:20 pm for a shooting in the Forest Drive and Cherry Grove Avenue area. When police arrived to the scene, he was inside the vehicle was the 32-year old rapper, Edward Montre Seay, dead from gunshot wounds. Seay was pronounced dead on the scene

The rapper who was based out of Chester, Maryland gained national spotlight when he won Verizon’s #Freestyle50 rap contest in 2016. He received $10,000 cash prize and a recording contract with 300 Entertainment. In 2017, he released his popular single  "Run It" featuring TK Kravitz with the production of London On Da Track. Seay was making a name for himself and building reputation in the DMV area for a few years before the contest exposure with his projects “Royalty Album” and his “Prince of the City” mixtapes series. This March, he released a 13 track solo project named “Tdk: Titles Define Kings.”

Tre was known to be quite the giver to his community and had a huge impact as well. One person says that Tre’s success brought “light on the city” while a close friend, Comacell Brown, called him an “inspiration.” Brown also said “Any time there was any doubt, he was the one to make us a believer” according to the Annapolis’ Capital Gazette. Because of his strong impact, there is a movement to rename a street in Tre’s honor.

According to a Washington Post, Seay died from injuries due to the car collision. An investigation is currently underway. The police have not yet named any suspects connected to his murder as of Sunday morning. He is one of the many rappers to be involved in gun violence this year. Unfortunely for Tre’ Da Kidd, it turned out to be fatal.

Rest in Power Tre’ Da Kidd
